  1. Do I have to buy belts from you?

The EDGEMASTER Blade Sharpener uses a standard size belt that can be bought at most hardware stores. Finer grit belts can be ordered on line from Abrasive dealers, or directly from EDGEMASTER.

  2. How do I set the angle correctly?

The EDGEMASTER Blade Sharpener sharpens such a wide variety of items that there is no way to set up a jig to fit every application. However, in use by professionals, the angle is determined by the article being sharpened. Many knives with very thin blades require a thinner angle, (i.e. 15 to 18 degrees) while items with thicker blades need a thicker angle such as 23 to 25 degrees. The item being sharpened will tell you if the angle is right. In other words, does it cut as you hoped it would.

  3. How long will a belt last?

The life of a belt depends entirely on its use by the user. Under occasional home use it will last months while commercial use it may last less than a month.

  4. Where do I get replacement parts for the machine?

The life of the machine hasn't been determined yet as there hasn’t been a breakdown in the 3 years of manufacture. However, replacement parts can be obtained from EDGEMASTER.

  5. I want to start a sharpening business, How do I start?

    • You will need a machine and a way to transport it and electric power.
    • Learn to sharpen tools. The best way is to go to garage sales and buy a bunch of knives and tools and practice on them. Within a few minutes you will be sharpening like a pro.
    • Get customers! You can advertise if you want to do a home business. However, if you want to be mobile, you can make "cold" calls and build the business.
    • Be sure to read the "Start Your Own Business" page.
