1/3 horsepower electric motor turns almost 3500 RPM (which converts to 35 MPH). Belt size is 1" x 30" which is a very common size, can be purchased at many hardware stores. The machine comes with an 80 grit belt for heavier sharpening, and a 240 grit belt for knives and finer work. Belts can be purchased in 80 to over 400 grit abrasion.

The machine was designed to be heavy enough to eliminate vibration dance, yet light enough, 17.5 lbs, so it can be moved easily. The rubber vibration dampeners can be moved from underneath the unit, to the back. Allowing the unit to be mounted on the wall taking up less bench space.
